Choosing a website template: five questions to ask first

· 5 min read

A template is a starting point, not a final answer. These questions help you pick one that will grow with you.

1. What should a visitor do first?

Book, call, buy or read? Pick a template whose first screen makes that action obvious.

2. How much content do you really have?

A gallery-heavy design needs good photos. If you have few, choose a layout that works with text and a few strong images.

3. Does it work well on a phone?

Most visitors will arrive on mobile. Check the small-screen view before you fall in love with the desktop one.

Look at tap targets, text size and how long the page feels when scrolling.

4. Can it grow?

Think about the pages you may add next year: a blog, a shop, another language. A flexible structure saves a redesign later.

5. Does it feel like you?

Colours and photos can change. Tone and layout are harder to change. Choose the one that already feels close.
